Ekweremadu Congratulates Eaglets, Says Victory Is Nigeria Centenary Gift

Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu has congratulated the U-17 Golden Eaglets for their victory in the just concluded U-17 FIFA Championship in Dubai, United Arab Emirate, UAE.

The Nigeria team Friday defeated their Mexican counterpart 3-0 in the final match to lift the coveted trophy for the fourth time.

While congratulating the victorious team, Senator Ekweremadu described the Eaglets display as “phenomenal, entertaining, and near perfect.”

He said the Cup was a centenary gift Nigerians would never forget in a hurry.

In the congratulatory message signed by his Special Adviser, Media, the Deputy Senate President said: “I am indeed proud of these boys for this superlative and emphatic victory.

“But beyond the euphoria that comes with it, I believe that this is God reminding us through these young men that a united and one-minded Nigeria where everyone is given the opportunity to do what he or she knows best to do without recourse to nepotism, ethno-religious discrimination, and political manipulations is simply unstoppable.

“It has been quite long we saw a thing like this and for me it is a Centenary gift that calls for sober reflections on what and where we ought to be as a nation.”

He urged all Nigerians to roll out the drum to celebrate the boys and fatherland.
