Proceeds From Italy/Eagles Friendly For Philippines Typhoon Victims


The proceeds from Monday’s Italy-Nigeria friendly in London will go to the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.
Coach Cesare Prandelli’s squad is to play the Super Eagles at Craven Cottage on Monday evening in an international friendly.

The Italian Federation announced, in conjunction with UNICEF, that the proceeds from the game will be donated to help the recovery process in the Philippines.

Meanwhile the Super Eagles duo of Bright Dike and Ogenyi Onazi has both stated that they are quite excited with the prospect of playing against a big team like Italy in an international friendly.

Speaking in separate interviews in Calabar, Onazi and Dike stated that the friendly is a good avenue for the Eagles to test their strength against one of the world’s best teams.

“It is a good opportunity for us to know where we are when we play big teams like Italy, Onazi who was voted the most valuable player in the weekend’s 2-0 win over the Wayla Antelopes of Ethiopia.

Onazi who plays for Italian Club Lazio stated that he is accustomed to a good number of the players listed for the Azzuris having played with or against them in times past.

On his part Toronto forward Dike who was not handed any playing time in the game against Ethiopia said he hopes to get a look-in from Coach Stephen Keshi in order to show what he can do against a big team like Italy.

“Well, I will be very happy to play a big game like the Italy friendly it gives you a good opportunity as a player to showcase what you have got” Dike said.
