S'Eagles Drop In FIFA Ranking Again

Nigeria’s Super Eagles dropped three places again in the COCA/FIFA World Ranking released Friday. The reigning African champions were placed 33rd in November’s ranking but are now 36th in the world.

The team, however, maintained their fourth place on the African continent behind Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana and Algeria who are placed first, second and third respectively. Egypt’s Pharaohs are fifth in Africa.

Nigeria lost 14 points from 724 last month to 710 in December.

There were no changes in the World’s Top 4 as Spain, Germany, Argentina, the Super Eagles’ opponent at the Brazil 2014 World Cup and Colombia maintained their respective positions.

The only change that occurred was in the fifth position occupied by Portugal, who denied Sweden a place at the Brazil World Cup after defeating them in the European playoffs.

According to FIFA, Egypt, Cuba and Cambodia are the three best movers in the ranking. Egypt moved 13 places, they garnered a total of 89 points (609 to 698) to move from their former 51st position to 38th, Cuba moved from their previous 74th position to 47th position while Cambodia moved from 198th to 188th in the world.
