A Woman’s Hair Is Her Pride And Glory, Get It RIGHT With These Tips

A woman's hair is her pride and glory. (Except for Amber Rose. I think she looks more stunning bald than with hair on). It is the one feature that makes us stand out. It is the first thing everyone

notices when they look at us. it distinguishes us from our male counterparts. It is our security blanket. Some might find these debatable but every lady would agree that it is way better to have great hair with simple clothes than a bad hair day with an amazing outfit, that is why we spend so much time and money on our hair. That is why it is very important to get the right hairstyle that will frame our faces beautifully.

A lot of women make the mistake to think that because it looks good on a celebrity or model in a magazine or their friends, it would look just as good on them only to come out of the salon gravely disappointed. No, it's not your hair stylists fault. She did the best she could. It's the hair style!

Once upon a time, I used to love bangs but I had to give up on the style because hard as I tried, it just didn't look good on my face type. If you have ever found yourself in a similar situation, you must be wondering, "So what hairstyle would be perfect for my face?" That's why I'm here...

Every hairstyle is not for every woman. Don't follow the trend. What looks fabulous on a round face like Lydia Forson won't look as good on an oblong face like Efya.

Before you go deciding on what new hairstyle to experiment, it's very important to know, first and foremost, your face shape. Most women will say that their face is round but most faces are usually one of six basic shapes.

The easiest way to determine your face shape is to just pull your hair back, away from your face and take a good look in the mirror. Ask yourself what is the widest part of your face, your forehead or your jaw? Or maybe it's neither and your cheekbones are the widest. Look at your chin, is it pointy, round or square? Then picture an imaginary line going around your face. What shape is it?

There are six different face shapes and each has distinct characteristics...

1. Oval: The length of your face is about one and a half times its width. Your forehead is slightly wider than your chin. You can do almost any hairstyle you want with this type of face. Lucky you!

2. Round: You have prominent (perhaps chubby) cheeks, and the length and width of your face are about equal. A round face has a small forehead so avoid bangs and create volume on top. The end result is to ensure the look of an oval shape.

3. Square: You have a prominent jaw and square chin. Your forehead and jaw line are approximately the same width. Stay clear away from bangs because they square your face off even more. Avoid short hair. Medium to long hair are the best especially if you have enough hair to bring forward to the jaw line to help contour your face.

4. Oblong: Oblong is often confused with oval; however this shape is slightly longer and not as wide. You may also have a pointy chin. With this type of face, length doesn't matter as long as you create width or volume to your hair. Bangs are perfect.

5. Heart: Both your forehead and your cheeks are wide. You have a narrow jaw and a pointy chin. Go for longer lengths with more width at the chin. The reverse of this face shape is the "Pear" shape. Pear shaped faces are narrow through the hairline and get wider at the jaw so go for height and width above the ears to balance the broadness of the chin.

6. Diamond: Both your forehead and your jaw line are narrow with your cheekbones being the widest part of your face. Stay away from volume through the cheekbones and build it through the jaw and hairline. Bangs will help cover the narrowness of the hairline. Add a lot of texture to the ends to balance out the narrowness of the chin.

Now you can make some informed style decisions this season and look as fabulous as your outfit! There's no reason anyone should have a bad hair day!
