The upper chamber of the National Assembly will interrogate
the embattled Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah on Wednesday over the alleged
cars
scandal, Punch reports.
The Senate had summoned the minister to appear before it and
explain her involvement in the N255m bullet-proof cars scandal which has rocked
the aviation sector.
The minister is expected to give a detailed explanation also
on the air crashes that have bedeviled the sector in recent past. She will
explain her roles in the October 3, 2013 Associated Airlines plane crash in
Lagos.
Oduah, had on Thursday, denied wrongdoing before a House of
Representatives panel, and pushing the blames on her aides and the Nigerian
Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA.
She denied requesting for, or being the beneficiary of two
armoured cars purchased by the NCAA- a procurement neither listed in government
budget nor executed in accordance with public procurement regulations.
She admitted, however, endorsing the purchase which a total
contract has cost five times higher than her official approval powers.
