Our correspondent reports that shortly after the announcement, many residents of Kafanchan rushed to the market to purchase food items.

Government spokesman Ahmed Maiyaki said normalcy is gradually returning to the area.

Meanwhile, sources from Nimbia, Tajak, in JamaĆ” Local Government Area said many people fled their communities on Monday following attack by unknown gunmen.

A resident said some gunmen came to the communities and burnt down two houses, one belonging to a traditional ruler.

“The traditional ruler had raised alarm over the planned attack by the gunmen because we have been living in peace here, but the gunmen came with sophisticated weapons and burnt his house and that of his friend.

As am talking to you, many people from Nimbia, Tajak, Katsak and Fakyo have fled to neighbouring communities surrounding Angwan Mailafiya. Soldiers came here but they have left. We don’t know what is happening,” a resident said.
