Go Get Yours! Google Glass Now Available With Designer Frames, Prescription Lenses

It's almost two years since Google unveiled its Glass technology - and despite the fact we still don't know when the device will go on general sale - Google's latest announcement hints a launch.

In a bid to appeal to the masses, Google has announced its wearable tech and can now be used with prescription lenses, and the firm has added a new range of titanium frames and sunglasses to its collection.

The frames come in four styles, including Bold, Curve, Thin and Split, and cost $225 (£136) each, while the sunglasses are sold in Classic and Edge for $150 (£90) each.

This price is on top of the standard $1,500 cost of the technology itself.
All the frames and sunglasses will be sold with standard glass, and Google has said prescription lenses can be added by an optometrist - yet this will set you back even more money.

Until now, Google Glass was only sold as a headset, fitted with a visor above the wearer's right eye.

Isabelle Olsson, the lead designer for Google Glass, showcased the new frames during Google Glass Basecamp last week.

The Bold frames have been designed to 'stand out', while the Thin frame has been designed to be as discreet as possible.

All four designs are said to have been based on current fashion trends because, as Olsson explained: 'We want as many people as possible to wear it.'
Google Glass currently comes in five colours including Charcoal, Shale, Cotton, Tangerine and Sky.

With the new range, Google claims there are now 40 different style options available.
'People need to be able to choose,' continued Olsson. 'These products need to be lifestyle products.'

The Glass hardware fitted to the frames hasn't changed, and features the existing optional ear bud and removable hardware.
